IP code - Degrees of Protection

IP coding (Ingress protection) is an accurate method to indicate the degrees of protection for enclosures. It classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water. More information on IP-classification can be found in IEC 60529.

The degree of protection is indicated by a combination of 2 digits. The first digit tells you more about the protection against solid objects and dust, the second about the protection against water.

Van der Graaf drummotors are standard IP66, upgradable to IP68 with the UW (under water) sealing.
